Overview:

The webinar will lay out in specific detail the preventive health care covered by the Affordable Care Act. For adults, the vaccination schedule will be explained, including the annual flu shot, tetanus shot, shingles vaccine and pneumonia shot. Preventive care for both adult men and women will be discussed. Blood pressure screening, cholesterol screening, HIV testing, colon cancer screening, obesity screening, tobacco and alcohol screening will be presented. For men, prostate exams and a test for abdominal aortic aneurysm are included. Women's screening topics are mammograms, osteoporosis screening, and cervical cancer screening. Screenings recommended for women of childbearing age will be included. Children's preventive care recommendations include immunizations, developmental checkups, and well child visits. The new oral care preventive care will also be presented.

Speaker Profile
Marie McFadden holds a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University. She went on to receive her credentials to be a Certified Health Education Specialist in 2013. Using this knowledge Marie is able to assess client needs for health behavior change, design and implement programs to reach their goals, along with provide continuing support as a resource. Currently, Marie works at Complete Wellness Solutions (CWS) overseeing education and implementation. CWS offers an online wellness tool to employer groups of all sizes in an effort to build a healthier, happier workforce.

Marie’s responsibilities at CWS include overseeing educational material and tailoring wellness programs and challenges to meet the unique needs of her clients. In addition, she is a column writer for Completely Well which is a monthly publication that focuses on living well on a budget. Marie has a passion for helping others and has traveled to Honduras in 2013 and 2014 with the dental group Sonrisas Siempre. With them, she served as a patient educator and spoke on the importance of proper brushing and flossing. In the future, Marie plans to continue her education to be able to further assist clients on their path to wellness by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer as well as obtaining her certification in Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist.
