Overview:

"This Course is approved for 1.5 general credit from the Nevada Board Of Continuing Legal Education."

Overview: This lesson will be addressing what human resources managers need to know regarding health records of their employees. We will go through "do's and don'ts"and cover many frequently asked questions I have received through my 17-year career in HIPAA compliance. Human resources managers need to get their HIPAA house in order as this law is now fully enforced across the board and the government is not using kid gloves any more. It will also address major changes under the Omnibus Rule and any other applicable updates for 2017 and beyond.

I will speak on specific experiences from over 17 years of experience in working as an outsourced compliance auditor, expert witness on multiple HIPAA cases, and thoroughly explain how individuals are now able to get cash remedies for wrongful disclosures of private health information. More importantly I will show you how to limit those risks by simply taking proactive steps and utilizing best practices within the HR department as a whole.

Why should you Attend: Do you know what you need to be doing as an HR department under HIPAA? Are you aware of laws and requirements that must be met and what we can and cannot do with employee health records? Are you aware that individuals can now sue under state laws of negligence for HIPAA violations Omnibus has changed the HIPAA landscape for good This once rarely enforced law has changed and you need to know what's going on Protect your practice or business These day's trial attorney's pose a higher risk than the Federal government State laws are now in place increasing liability for remedies.
